To the Hebrews 12: 1-13: The Discipline of the Lord
1 And since we have a surrounding of such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off all impediments and the sin that so easily entangles, let us run with patience the race marked out for us 2 looking to the beginner and perfecter of our trust, Yeshua, who for the joy set before him endured the cross of shame looking forward to being seated at the right of God’s throne. 3 For compare this patience towards sinners, enduring rebellion against himself, lest you be discouraged and give up.
4 You have not yet resisted sin to the point of shedding blood. 5 And have you forgotten the exhortation, which is spoken to us as to sons,
My son, do not take lightly the lord’s discipline
nor hide from his reproof:
6 for the lord disciplines those he loves,
and punishes every son whom he welcomes?
7 Endure for discipline, God treats you as sons. For who is the son whom the father doesn’t discipline? 8 And if you are without discipline which we have all been partners in, you are bastards and not sons. 9 If we had fathers according to the flesh who disciplined us and we were ashamed: how much more should we submit to the father of spirits and live? 10 For they disciplined us for a short time as was good, but he disciplines us for our best to bring us to his holiness. 11 And all discipline for the moment doesn’t seem to be a joy but a grief, but afterwards peaceful fruit of righteousness is produced in it for those who are trained.
12 Therefore strengthen your drooping hands and weak knees, 13 and make straight paths for your feet, lest what is lame not stumble but rather be healed.
