Of John C 1-4: Salutation
1 The elder to beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth.
2 Beloved, I pray for you about all things that you may have things go well and be healthy, just as your soul is well. 3 For I rejoiced more when brothers came and bore witness about you in truth, just as you walk in truth. 4 I don't have any more joy than these things, that I hear that my children walk in the truth.

Of John C 5-12: Cooperation and Opposition
5 Beloved, you are doing the faith which, if proclaimed to the brothers and these strangers, 6 they bore witness about your love before the churches, since you will do well to send those worthy of God: 7 because for the sake of the name they went out receiving nothing from the gentiles. 8 Therefore we should support such people, so that we may work together in truth.
9 I wrote something to the church: but the one who wants to lead them, Diotrephes, doesn’t receive us. 10 Therefore, if I come, I will remind him of the deeds that he does, slandering us with evil words, and not being satisfied with them, he doesn’t receive the brothers and he forbids those who want [to become brothers] and throws them out of the communities.
11 Beloved, don't imitate the evil but rather the good. The doer of good is from God; the evildoer hasn't seen God. 12 Demetrius has been borne witness to by everyone and by the truth itself: and we have witnessed, and you know that our testimony is true.

Of John C 13-15: Final Greetings
13 I had many things to write you but I don't want to write them with ink and pen: 14 but I hope to see you at once, and we will speak mouth to mouth. 15 Peace to you. The friends greet you. Greet the friends by name.
