According to John 8: 48-59: Before Abraham was, I am
48 The Jews answered and said to him, “Don’t we say well that you are a Samaritan and have a demon?” 49 Jesus answered, “I don’t have a demon, but I honor my father, and you don’t honor me. 50 And I don’t seek my glory: the one who seeks is the one who judges. 51 Truly(,) truly I tell you, if anyone seeks my word, he will not see death forever.” 52 [Therefore] the Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon. Abraham died(,) and the prophets, and you say, ‘If anyone seeks my word, he will certainly not taste death forever.’ 53 Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? The prophets also died. Who do you make yourself?” 54 Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, no glory is greater than mine: it is my father who glorifies me, of whom you say that he is our God, 55 and have not understood him, but I know him. And if I say that I don’t know him, I will be like a liar to you: but I know him and seek his word. 59 Your father Abraham was extremely joyful that he saw my day, and he saw (it) and rejoiced. 57 Therefore the Jews said to him, “You’re not yet fifty years (old)* and you’ve seen Abraham?” 58 Jesus told them, “Truly(,) truly I tell you, before Abraham was born I am.” 59 Therefore they carried stones in order to throw (them) on him. And Jesus was hidden and went out of the temple.
*Literally, ‘you don’t yet have fifty years’

According to John 9: 1-12: The Healing of a Man Born Blind
1 And arriving he saw a man blind from birth. 2 And his disciples asked him saying, “Rabbi, who sinned, this (man) or his parents, so that he was born blind?” 3 Jesus answered, “Neither this (one) nor his parents sinned, but rather (it is) so that the works of God might be shown in him. 4 We must do the works of him who sent me while it is day: night is coming when no one can work. 5 When I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” 6 Saying these (things) he spat on the ground and made mud from the spit and smeared the mud on (the blind man’s) eyes 7 and said to him, “Go wash in the pool of Siloam (which means Sent).”
8 Therefore the neighbors and those who saw that he was a beggar before said, “Isn’t this the one who sat and begged?” 9 Others said that ‘This is he,’ others said, ‘No, but he is like him.’ That (one) said that ‘I am (he).’ 10 Therefore they said to him, “[Therefore] how were your eyes opened?” 11 That (one) answered, “The man called Jesus made mud and smeared my eyes and said to me that ‘Go into the Siloam and wash:’ therefore going and washing I saw again.” 12 And they said to him, “Where is that (one)?” He says, “I don’t know.”

According to John 9: 13-34: The Pharisees Investigate the Healing
13 They lead him(,) the (one) formerly blind(,) to the Pharisees. 14 And it was sabbath on the day Jesus made the mud and opened his eyes. 15 Therefore the Pharisees also asked him again how he saw again. And he said to them, “He put mud on (my) eyes and I washed and I see.” 16 Therefore some of the Pharisees said, “This man isn’t from God, because he doesn’t keep the sabbath.” [But] others said, “How can a man (who is) a sinner do such miracles?” And there was a schism among them. 17 Therefore they speak to the blind (man) again, “What do you say about yourself, because your eyes were opened?” And he said that ‘He is a prophet.’
18 Therefore the Jews didn’t believe about him that he was blind and saw again until when they called the parents of him who saw again 19 and they asked them saying, “Is this your son, whom you say was born blind? Therefore how does he see now?” 20 Therefore his parents answered and said, “We know that this our son and that he was born blind: 21 but how he now sees we don’t know: ask him, he is of age*, he will speak about himself.” 22 His parents said these (things) because they feared the Jews: for now the Jews agreed that if anyone confessed Christ, he would be banished from the synagogue. 23 So his parents said that ‘He is of age*, ask him.’
24 Therefore they called the man who was blind a second time and said to him, “Give glory to God: we know that this man is a sinner.” 25 Therefore that (one) answered, “I don’t know if he’s a sinner: I know one (thing,) that having been blind I now see.” 26 Therefore they said to him, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?” 27 He answered them, “I told you already and you didn’t hear: what do you want to hear again? Do you also want to become his disciples?” 28 And they cursed him and said, “You are that (man)’s disciple, but we are disciples of Moses: 29 we know that God spoke to Moses, but we don’t know where this (man) is from.” 30 The man answered and said to them, “For in this is wonder, that you don’t know where he’s from, and he opened my eyes. 31 We know that God doesn’t hear sinners, but if anyone is God-fearing and does his desire(,) he hears this (one). 32 Forever it is has not been heard that he opened the eyes of one born blind: 33 if this (man) wasn’t from God, he could have done nothing.” 34 They answered and told him, “In sins all of you was born and you are teaching us?” And they threw him out.

According to John 9: 35-41: Spiritual Blindness
35 Jesus heard that they threw him out and finding him said, “Do you believe in the son of man?” 36 That (one) answered and said, “And who is he, lord, that I may believe in him?” 37 Jesus told him, “And you have found him and he who is speaking with you(,) that (one) is he.” 38 And he said, “I believe, lord:” and he worshiped him. 39 And Jesus said to him, “I came to judge this world, lest those who don’t see see and those who see become blind.”
40 Those from the Pharisees who were with him heard these (things) and said to him, “Are we also blind?” 41 Jesus told them, “If you’re blind, you don’t have sin: but now you say that ‘We see’, your sin remains.

According to John 10: 1-6: The Parable of the Sheepfold
1 Truly(,) truly I tell you, he who doesn’t enter the yard of the sheep through the door but climbs by another way(,) that (man) is a thief and a robber: 2 but he who enters through the door is the sheep’s shepherd, 3 the doorkeeper opens for this (one), and the sheep hear his voice and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When all his own (sheep) are out, he walks before them, and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice: 5 but they will certainly not follow another, but rather flee from him, because they don’t know the voice of others.”
6 Jesus told them this proverb, and those (ones) didn’t understand what it was that he was saying to them.

According to John 10: 7-21: Jesus the Good Shepherd
7 Therefore Jesus said to them again, “Truly(,) truly I tell you that I am the door of the sheep. 8 All(,) however many(,) came [before me] are thieves and robbers, but the sheep didn’t hear them. 9 I am the door: if anyone enters through me he will be saved and will enter and exit and find pasture. 10 The thief doesn’t come except to steal and slaughter and destroy: I came so that they may have life and have an abundance.
11 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays (down) his life* for the sheep: 12 Also the employee is not a shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, he sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees—and the wolf snatches and scatters them—13 because he is an employee and it is not of concern to him about the sheep.
14 I am the good shepherd and I know my own and my own know me, 15 just as the father knows me and I know the father, and I lay (down) my life* for the sheep. 16 And I have other sheep who are not from this yard: and those (ones) should love me and they hear my voice, and there will be one flock, one shepherd**. 17 So the father loves me because I/i] lay (down) my life*, so that I might receive it again. 18 No one takes it from me, but rather I lay it (down) from myself. I have authority to lay it (down), and I have authority to receive it again: I received this command from my father.”
19 There was a schism again in the Jews because of these words. 20 And many of them said, “He has a demon and is insane: what do you hear from him?” 21 Others said, “These words aren’t demonic: can a demon open the eyes of the blind?”

According to John 10: 22-42: Jesus Rejected by the Jews
22 Then it was Hanukkah in Jerusalem, it was winter, 23 and Jesus walked in the temple(,) in the portico of Solomon. 24 Therefore the Jews gathered around him and said to him, “Until when do you pick up your life*? Are you the Christ? Tell us openly.” 25 Jesus answered them, “I told you and you didn’t believe: the works that I do in the name of my father(,) these witness about me: 26 but you didn’t believe, because you aren’t from my sheep. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them and they follow me, 28 and I give them eternal life and they will certainly not be destroyed forever and anyone will not rip them from my hand. 29 My father who gave everything to me is greater, and no one can rip (anything) from the father’s hand. 30 I and the father are one.”
31 Again the Jews carried stones in order to stone him. 32 Jesus answered them, “I showed you many good works from the father: for which work of them do you stone me?” 33 The Jews answered him, “We don’t stone you about a good work but about blasphemy, and that you who are a man make yourself God. 34 [The] Jesus answered them, “Isn’t it written in your law that ‘I said, you are Gods?’ 35 If he called those gods for whom the word of God was, and the writing can’t be destroyed, 36 which the father made holy and sent into the world(, and) you say that ‘You are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am God’s son?’ 37 If I don’t do the works of my father, don’t believe in me: 38 and if I do, you don’t believe me, you believe in the works, so that you may know and understand that the father (is) in me and I in the father.”
39 [Therefore] they sought to arrest him again, and he went from their hand.
40 And he went away again beside the Jordan to the place where John was baptizing first and stayed there. 41 And many came to him and said that ‘Indeed John did no miracles, and all(,) however much(,) John said about this (one) was true.’ 42 And many believed in him there.

According to John 11: 1-16: The Death of Lazarus
1 And someone was sick, Lazarus from Bethany, from the village of Mary and her sister Martha. 2 And Mary was she who anointed the lord with ointment and dried his feet with her hairs, whose brother Lazarus was sick. 3 Therefore the sisters sent to him saying, “Lord, behold he whom you love is sick.” 4 And hearing Jesus said, “This sickness is not to death but for the glory of God, so that the son of God might be glorified through it.” 5 And Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. 6 Therefore as he heard that he is sick, then indeed he stayed in the place he was for two days, 7 then after this he says to the disciples, “Let’s go into Judea again.” 8 The disciples say to him, “Rabbi, now the Jews sought to stone you, and you’re going there again?” 9 Jesus answered, “Aren’t there twelve hours of the day? If anyone walks in the day, he doesn’t stumble, because he sees the light of this world: 10 but if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light isn’t in him.” 11 He said these (things), and after this he says to them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep: but we go in order to wake him up.” 12 Therefore the disciples said to him, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep he will be saved.” 13 But Jesus had spoken about his death, and those (ones) gave praise that he speaks about actual sleep. 14 Therefore then Jesus told them openly, “Lazarus died, 15 and I rejoice because of you that you may believe, that he didn’t stay there: but we are going to him.” 16 Therefore Thomas(,) called Didymus(,) said to the fellow disciples, “We are also going in order to die with him.”

According to John 11: 17-27: Jesus the Resurrection and the Life
17 Therefore Jesus came (and) found him now being* four days in the tomb. 18 And Bethany was near Jerusalem(,) from about fifteen stadia (off). 19 And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary to comfort them about (their) brother. 20 Therefore Martha when she heard that Jesus is coming met him: but Mary sat in the house. 21 Therefore Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you were here my brother wouldn’t have died: 22 [but] and now I know that however much you ask God(,) God will give (it) to you.” 23 Jesus says to her, “Your brother will be resurrected.” 24 Therefore Martha says to him, “I know that he will be resurrected in the resurrection in the last day.” 25 Jesus said to her, “I am resurrection and life: he who believes in me(,) if he dies(,) will live, 26 and each who lives and believes in me will certainly not die forever. Do you believe this?” 27 She says to him, “Yes(,) lord, I have believed that you are the Christ(,) the son of God who comes into the world.”

According to John 11: 28-37: Jesus Weeps
28 And as she said this she went and called Mary her sister saying quietly, “The teacher is here and is calling you.” 29 And when she heard(,) that (one) got up quickly and went to him. 30 And Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha met him. 31 Therefore the Jews who were with her in the house and comforting her, seeing that Mary stood up quickly and went out, followed her thinking that she is going to the tomb to weep there. 32 Therefore as Mary went where Jesus was she saw him (and) fell before his feet saying to him, “Lord, if you were here my brother wouldn’t have died.” 33 Therefore when Jesus saw her weeping and the Jews with her weeping, he was tortured in spirit and upset himself 34 and said, “Where did you put him?” They tell him, “Lord, come and see.” 35 Jesus cried. 36 Therefore the Jews said, “See how he loved him.” 37 And some of them said, “This (man,) opening the eyes of the blind(,) couldn’t make (it) that this (one) might not die.”

According to John 11: 38-44: Lazarus Brought to Life
38 Therefore Jesus(,) tormented in himself again(,) comes to the tomb: and there was a cave and a stone laid on it. 39 Jesus says, “Pick up the stone.” Martha(,) the sister of him who had died(,) says, “Lord, he stinks now, for it is the fourth day [since his burial].” 40 Jesus says to her, “Didn’t I tell you that if you believe you will see God’s glory?” 41 Therefore they picked up the stone. And Jesus lifted up his eyes and said, “Father, I give you thanks that you heard me. 42 And I knew that you always hear me, but because of the crowd standing around I said (it), so that they may believe that you sent me.” 43 And saying these (things) he shouted in a great voice, “Lazarus, come out.” 44 He who had been put (there) came out(,) feet and hands wrapped with strips of cloth and his face bound in a facecloth. Jesus says to them, “Set him free and let him leave here.”

According to John 11: 45-57: The Plot to Kill Jesus
45 Therefore many of the Jews who came to Mary and saw what he did believed in him: 46 but some of them went away to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus did. 47 Therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees gathered the Sanhedrin and said, “What should we do because this man does many miracles? 48 If we permit him (to continue) thus, many will believe in him, and the Romans will come and take our even our home* and nation.” 49 And one of them(,) Caiphas, who was chief priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing, 50 you don’t calculate that it is better for you that one man die for the people and not all the nation be destroyed.” 51 And he didn’t say this from himself, but being chief priest that year he prophesied that Jesus was about to die for the nation, 52 and not only for the nation but so that God’s scattered children might gather as one. 53 Therefore from that day they planned to murder him.
54 Therefore Jesus no longer walked openly among the Jews, but went away from there into a region near the desert, to a city called Ephraim, and there he stayed with the disciples.
55 And the passover of the Jews was near, and many went up to Jerusalem from the villages for the passover in order to purify themselves. 56 Therefore they sought Jesus and standing in the temple said with each other, “How does it seem to you? That he certainly hasn’t come to the feast?” 57 And the chief priest and Pharisees had given commands that if anyone knows where he is to report (it), that they might arrest him.

1 Therefore for the six days of the passover Jesus went to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom Jesus raised from the dead. 2 Therefore they made a banquet for him there, and Martha served, and Lazarus was one of those reclining with him. 3 Therefore Mary took a liter of ointment of pure expensive nard (and) anointed Jesus’ feet and dried his feet with her hairs: and the house was filled with the fragrance of the ointment. 4 And Judas Iscariot(,) one [from] his disciples, who was going to betray him, says, 5 “Why wasn’t this ointment sold for 300 denarii and given to the poor?” 6 And he said this not because the poor concerned him, but because he was a thief and having the money bag carried what was put in. 7 Therefore Jesus said, “Allow her, so that in the day of my burial she may keep it: 8 for you always have the poor with you, but you don’t always have me.”

According to John 12: 12-19: The Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem
12 The next day a great crowd (was) coming for the feast, (and) hearing that Jesus is coming to Jerusalem 13 they took palm branches from the palm trees and went out to meet him and cried out,
“Hosanna: blessed (is) he who comes in the name of the lord, [and] the king of Israel.”
14 And finding a young donkey Jesus sat on it, just as it is written,
15 Don’t be afraid, daughter Zion: behold your king is coming, sitting on the colt of a donkey.
16 His disciples didn’t know these (things) first, but rather when Jesus was glorified(,) then they remembered that these (things) were written about him and they did these (things) to him. 17 Therefore the crowd with him witnessed when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead. 18 For this (reason) the crowd [also] met him, because they heard he had done this sign. 19 Therefore the Pharisees said to themselves, “See that you owe nothing: behold the world came after him.”
