Acts of the Emissaries 11: 1-18: Peter’s Report to the Church at Jerusalem
1 And the emissaries and the brothers who were in Judea heard that the nations had also welcomed God’s word. 2 And when Peter went up to Jerusalem, those from the circumcision argued with him 3 saying that ‘You went in to men who have uncircumcision and you ate with them.’ 4 And beginning Peter explained in sequence to them saying, 5 “I was in the city of Joppa praying and in an amazing vision I saw something like a large sheet with four corners coming down, let down from heaven, and it came before me. 6 Staring into it I looked at it and saw the four-footed creatures of the earth and the wild animals and the reptiles and the birds of heaven. 7 And I heard a voice calling me, ‘Get up, Peter, slaughter and eat.’ 8 And I said, ‘No way, lord, because common or unclean food has never entered my mouth.’ 9 And the voice answered a second time from heaven, ‘What God has made clean, don’t you call common.’ 10 And this happened a third thrice, and everything was pulled up to heaven again. 11 And look, immediately three men came up to the house in which I was, sent from Cornelius to me. 12 And the spirit told me to go with them, not hesitating. And they came with me, and some of these brothers, and we went into the man’s house. 13 And he announced to us how he saw [the] angel standing in his house and saying, ‘Send to Joppa and summon Simon who is called Peter, 14 who ill speak words to you by which you and all your house may be saved.’ 15 And when I began speaking the holy spirit fell on them just as it also came on us in the beginning. 16 And I was reminded of the word of the lord as he said, 'Indeed John baptized with water, but you will be baptized in the holy spirit.' 17 Therefore if God gave them the same gift as to us who believe in the lord Yeshua, was I someone able to command God?" 18 And hearing these things they were silent and praised God saying, "So God has given even the nations repentance into life."

Acts of the Emissaries 11: 19-30: The Church at Antioch
19 Therefore indeed, scattered by the trouble that came on Stephan, they went away to Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch not speaking the word to anyone except to Jews. 20 And some of them were Cypriot and Cyrenean men, who, coming into Antioch, spoke to the Greeks as well, announcing the good news of the lord Yeshua. 21 And the hand of the lord was with them, and a great number who trusted turned to the lord. 22 And the word was heard in the ears of the community which was in Jerusalem about them and they sent out Barnabas [to go] to Antioch. 23 He, arriving and seeing the grace [that was] from God, rejoiced and called everyone to set their hearts to stay with the lord, 25 because he was a good man and full of the holy spirit and trust. And that crowd set themselves on the lord. 25 And he went to Tarsus to seek Saul, 26 and finding him brought him to Antioch. And it happened to them that the whole next year they gathered in the community and taught that crowd, and in Antioch they first called the disciples Christians/Messiancs.
27 And in these days prophets came down from Jerusalem to Antioch. 28 And, getting up, one of them by the name of Agabus predicted through the holy spirit that a great famine was going to be over all the inhabited earth, over which Claudius was. 29 And of the disciples, just as anyone had money, that one of them determined to send it as a service to the brothers who lived in Judea: 30 which they also did, sending it to the elders through the hand of Barnabas and Saul.

Acts of the Emissaries 12: 1-5: James Killed and Peter Imprisoned
1 And in that time the king Herod stretched out his hands to do evil to some of those from the community. 2 And he killed Jacob the brother of John with the sword. 3 And seeing that it was pleasing to the Judeans, he went ahead to seize Peter as well,--and [the] days were of (the Feast of) unleavened bread—4 whom also they seized and put into prison, handing him over to four squads of soldiers to imprison him, planning to lead him before the nation after the passover. 5 Therefore indeed Peter was kept in the prision: and a prayer was earnestly* coming from the community to God about him.

Acts of the Emissaries 12: 6-19: Peter Delivered from Prison
6 And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, tied with two chains and guards kept the prison at the doors. 7 And look, an angel of the lord appeared and light flashed in the room: and striking Peter’s side he raised him saying, “Get up in haste.” And the chains fell from his hands. 8 And the angel said to him, “Get dressed and put your sandals on.” And he did so. And he said to him, “Put your cloak on and follow me.” 9 And going out he followed and didn’t know that what had happened through the angel was true: and he thought he was seeing visions. 10 And going through the first guard and the second they came to the iron door leading to the city, which opened for them by itself, and going out they came to one street, and immediately the angel was lifted up from him. 11 And coming to himself Peter said, “Now I know truly that [the] lord sent out the angel and rescued me from Herod’s hand and all the expectation of the nation of the Judeans.” 12 And becoming aware he went to the house of Maria, the mother of John who was called Mark, where those ones were gathering and praying. 13 And when he knocked on the door of the entryway a maidservant named Rhoda responded and came, 14 and realizing that it was Peter’s voice she didn’t open the door from joy, but running in announced that Peter was outside the entryway. 15 And they said to her, “You’re insane.” And she insisted that it was true. And they said, “It’s his angel.” 16 But Peter kept knocking: and opening the door they saw him and were amazed. 17 And motioning with his hand for silence he declared [to them] how the lord led him out of the prison and said, “Tell Jacob and the brothers these things.” And going out he went to another place.
18 And when day came there was no small confusion among the soldiers as to what Peter had done. 19 And when Herod sought him and didn't find him, he questioned the guards and ordered them to be killed, and going down from Judea to Caesarea he stayed (there).

Acts of the Emissaries 12: 20-25: The Death of Herod
20 And he was being furious with the Tyrians and Sidonians: and with common consent they stood before him and, persuading Blastus, who was over the king’s bedroom, they requested peace through their supporting the region away from the kingdom. 21 And on the appointed day Herod, wearing kingly clothing [and] sitting on the judicial bench, made a speech to them, 22 and the people shouted, “It is the voice of God* and not of a man.” 23 And immediately an angel of the lord struck him because he didn't give the glort to God, and becoming worm-eaten he died.
24 And the word of God grew and was fulfilled. 25 And Barnabas and Saul returned to Jerusalem fulfilling the contribution, bringing along John, the one called Mark.

Acts of the Emissaries 13: 1-3: Barnabas and Saul Commissioned
1 And they were in Antioch with the community that was there and prophets and teachers which were both Barnabas and Symeon who is called Niger and Lucius the Cyrenean, and Manaen the foster brother of the tetrarch Herod and Saul. 2 And when they were worshiping the lord and fasting the holy spirit said, "Look closely and give me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I am joining them." 3 Then, fasting and praying and laying hands on them, they sent them away.

Acts of the Emissaries 13: 4-12: The Apostles Preach in Cyprus
4 Therefore indeed they were sent out by the holy spirit and went down to Seleucia, and there they set sail for Cyprus 5 and being in Salamis they announced the word of God in the Jews’ synagogues. And they also had John as an assistant. 6 And going through the whole island as far as Paphos they found a man who was a major false prophet, a Jew whose name was Bar-Yeshua 7 who was with the proconsul Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. This one, summoning Barnabas and Saul, asked to hear God’s word. 8 And the magician Elumas opposed them, for thus his name was obscured, seeking to turn the proconsul from trust. 9 And Saul, who was also Paul, was filled with the holy spirit and stared at him 10 and said, "O fulness of all treachery and all unscrupulousness, son of the devil, enemy of all righteousness, won't you stop perverting [the] lord's straight paths? 11 And now, look, the lord's hand is on you and you will be blind, not seeing the son until the time." And immediately mistiness and darkness fell on him and going around he looked for people to lead him by the hand. 12 Then, seeing this, the one who was proconsul trusted, being amazed at the lord's teaching.

Acts of the Emissaries 13: 13-52: Paul and Barnabas at Antioch of Pisidia
13 And leading up from Paphos those with Paul went to Perga of Pamphulia, and leaving them John returned to Jerusalem. 14 And going through from Perga they arrived at Pisidian Antioch, and going [in]to the synagogue on the day of the sabbaths they say down. 15 And after the reading of the law and the prophets the rulers of the synagogue sent to them saying, “Men and brothers, if any word of encouragement for the nation is with you, speak.” 16 And getting up and motioning with his hand Paul said:
“Israelite men and those who fear God, listen. 17 The God of this nation Israel chose our fathers and exalted the nation in the sojourn in the land of Egypt and with an uplifted arm he led them out of it, 18 and about a forty years’ time he fed them in the desert 19 and seven nations came down on the land of Canaan and received the inheritance of their land 20 about four hundred and fifty years. And after these things he gave judges until [the] prophet Samuel. 21 From then they prepared a kingdom and God gave them Saul son of Kish, a man from the tribe of Benjamin, forty years, 22 and removing him he raised up David for them as a king for it and he said, bearing witness, ‘I found David son of Jesse, a man according to my heart, who will do all my desires.’ 23 From this man’s seed, according to the promise, God brought to Israel a savior, Yeshua, 24 when John preached beforehand, before his entrance, a baptism of repentance for the whole nation of Israel. 25 And as John’s course was fulfilled, he said, ‘Who do you think that I am? I’m not: but rather, look, after me comes he of whom I’m not worthy to loosen the sandals for his feet.’
26 “Men, brothers, sons of Abraham’s lineage and those among you who fear God, the word of this salvation sent us out. 27 For those who live in Jerusalem and their rulers, not knowing this and the voices of the prophets which they read every sabbath, judging, have fulfilled them, 28 and finding not one reason for death they asked Pilate to destroy him. 29 And as they brought to the goal everything written about him, taking him down from the tree they put him in a tomb. 30 But God raised him from the dead, 31 who was seen for many days by those who traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are [now] his witnesses to the nation. 32 And we tell you the good news of the promise which was for the fathers, 33 that God has fulfilled this for [their] children, us, raising Yeshua as it is also written in the second psalm,
You are my son, today I have begotten you.
34 And because he raised him who is never going to return to decay from the dead, thus he has said that
I will give you* the holy, trustworthy things of David.
35 And therefore in another place he says,
You won’t give your holy one to see decay.
36 Therefore indeed David obeyed God’s plan in his own generation and fell asleep and was put near his fathers and saw decay: 37 and God raised him [Yeshua], he didn’t see decay. 38 Therefore let it be known to you, men and brothers, that because of this forgiveness of sins is announced to you[, and] from everyone that is you could not be justified by Moses’ law, 39 in this is each one who trusts justified. 40 Therefore watch lest what is said in the prophets come about,
41 Watch, scoffers, and be amazed and perish, because I am doing a deed in your days, a deed that you won’t believe if someone tells you.”
42 And when they were going out they invited him to say these words to them the next sabbath. 43 And when the synagogue dismissed many of the Jews and the proselyte worshipers followed Paul and Barnabas, who speaking to them persuaded them to remain with God’s grace.
44 And on the coming sabbath almost the whole city came to hear the word of the lord. 45 And seeing the crowds the Jews were filled with jealousy and opposed those (who came) because of Paul, calling them blasphemers. 46 And speaking boldly Paul and Barnabas said, “It was necessary to speak the word of God to you first: since you reject it and don’t judge yourselves worthy of eternal life, look, we are turning to the nations. 47 For thus the lord commanded us,
I have put you as a light of the nations so that you may be salvation to the end of the earth.”
48 And hearing the nations rejoiced and praised the world of the lord and trusted, so many were directed** into eternal life: 49 and the word of the lord spread throughout the whole region. 50 And the Jews incited the “God-fearing” women of high standing and the first men of the city and stirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas and threw them out of their sight. 51 And shaking off the dust of their feet on them they went to Iconium, 52 and the disciples were filled with joy and the holy spirit.
*plural **The word may also mean ‘designated’ or ‘appointed for’

Acts of the Apostles 14: 1-7: Paul and Barnabas at Iconium
1 And it happened in Iconium that they entered the Jews’ synagogue together and spoke thus so that a great number of Jews and also Greeks might trust. 2 And the unbelieving Jews stirred up and poisoned the minds of the nations against the brothers. 3 Therefore indeed for a long time they remained speaking boldly about the lord of whom witness is borne [by] the word of his grace, giving signs and wonders to be done through their hands. 4 And the population of the city was divided, and indeed some were with the Jews, but some were with the emissaries. 5 And there was an attempt of the gentiles and also the Jews with their leaders to mistreat and stone them, 6 and learning of it they fled to the cities of Lycaonia, Lystra and Derbe and the surrounding region, 7 and there they were announcing the good news.

Acts of the Emissaries 14: 8-20: Paul and Barnabas at Lystra
8 And a certain man sat at Lystra weak in the feet, lame from his mother’s womb, who had never walked. 9 This man heard Paul speaking: he stared at him and seeing that he has trust to be saved, 10 said in a great voice, “Get upright on your feet.” And he leaped and walked. 11 And seeing what Paul did the crowds lifted up their voice in the Lycaonian language saying, “The gods looking like men have come down to us,” 12 and they called Barnabas Zeus, and Paul Hermes, since he was the chief speaker. 13 and the priest of Zeus who was near the city wanted to sacrifice bulls and garlands brought to the gates with the crowds. 14 And hearing, the apostles Barnabas and Paul ripped their clothing and rushed out into the crowd shouting 15 and saying, “Men, why are you doing these things? Even we are like you men, telling you the good news to turn from these useless things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and the sea and everything in them: 16 who in past generations allowed all the nations to walk by means of their paths: 17 although he has not let himself be unwitnessed doing good, giving you rains and fruitful seasons from heaven, filling your hearts with food and gladness.” 18 And saying these things they barely stopped the crowds from sacrificing to them.
19 And Jews from Antioch and Iconium came on them, both persuading the crowds and stoning Paul, they dragged him outside the city thinking him dead. 20 And when his disciples had surrounded him he got up and went into the city. And the next day he left for Derbe with Barnabas.

Acts of the Emissaries 14: 21-28: The Return to Antioch in Syria
21 And having announced the good news to that city and made enough disciples they returned to Lystra and Iconium and Antioch 22 strengthening the disciples’ souls, calling them to remain in the faith and that we must enter God’s kingdom through many troubles. 23 And they appointed elders in each community for them, and praying with fasting they entrusted them to the lord in whom they have trusted. 24 And going through Pisidia they came to Pamphylia 25 and speaking the word in Perga they went down to Attaleia 26 from there they set sail to Antioch, where they were given to the deed that they fulfilled by God’s grace. 27 And arriving and meeting the community they announced how much God did with them and that he opened the door of trust to the gentiles. 28 They spent not a little time with the disciples.

Acts of the Emissaries 15: 1-21: The Council at Jerusalem
1 And those who went down from Judea taught the brothers that “If you aren’t circumcised by Moses’ custom, you can’t be saved. 2 And there being controversy and not a little discussion by Paul and Barnabas with them, they appointed Paul and Barnabas and some others of them to go up to the emissaries and elders in Jerusalem about this question.
3 Therefore indeed being sent by the community they went through Phoenicia and Samaria declaring that the gentiles were turning (back to God) and they made great joy for all the brothers. 4 And coming into Jerusalem they were received by the community and the emissaries and the elders, and they announced how much God did with them. 5 And some of those who had believed the heresy of the Pharisees stood up saying that they must be circumcised and ordered them to keep Moses’ law.
6 And the emissaries and the elders met to look into this matter. 7 And as much controversy came about Peter stood up and said to them, “Men, brothers, you know that from ancient days God chose you through my mouth so that the gentiles might hear the word of the good news and trust. 8 And God who knows hearts bore witness, giving the holy spirit as on us 9 and no one discriminates between us and them, cleansing their hearts by trust. 10 Therefore now why do you test God by putting on the disciples’ neck a yoke that neither our fathers nor we could bear? 11 Rather through the lord Yeshua’s grace we trust to be saved according to the same way as those ones.”
12 And the whole number was silent and listened to Barnabas and Paul explaining how many signs and wonders God did among the nations through them.
13 And after their silence Jacob answered saying, “Men, brothers, listen to me. 14 Symeon told how God first picked out a nation from the gentiles to receive with his name. 15 And the words of the prophets agree with this, just as it is written,
16 After these things I will turn and I will rebuild David’s fallen tabernacle and I will rebuild her destroyed things and I will restore her 17 so that the remnants of men may seek the lord and all the nations whom I have called them by my name, says the lord doing these things 18 which are known from eternity.
19 Therefore I judge not to add extra difficulties to those from the gentiles who turn to God, 20 but rather to command them to keep free from the defilements of false gods and sexual immorality and what is strangled and blood. 21 For from ancient generations Moses has those who preach him, reading, in each city every sabbath."

Acts of the Emissaries 15: 22-35: The Reply of the Council
22 Then he praised the emissaries and the elders with the whole community, choosing men from them to sent to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, Judah who was called Barsabbas and Silas, men honored among the brothers, 23 writing by their hand, “The Emissaries and elders to the brothers in Antioch and Syria and Cilicia, the brothers from among the gentiles, greetings.
24 Because we heard that some people [coming out] from us disturbed you with words, unsettling your souls with things that we didn’t command, 25 it seemed good to us, being in agreement, to choose men to send to you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, 26 men who have given their lives for the sake of the lord Yeshua the Messiah’s name. 27 Therefore we have sent Judah and Silas and them through the word announcing the same things. 28 For it seemed good to the holy spirit and to us not to put more of a burden on you than you are carrying, 29 to abstain from idolatry and blood and strangled things and sexual immorality, from which you do well to keep yourselves. Farewell.”
30 Therefore indeed those sent went down to Antioch, and gathering the number gave them the letter. 31 And reading they rejoiced over the encouragement. 32 And Judah and Silas and those who were prophets with many words summoned the brothers and strengthened them, 33 and making time they were sent with peace from the brothers to those who had sent them. 25 Paul and Barnabas, with many others as well, traveled through Antioch teaching and announcing the good news of the word of the lord.

36 And after some days Paul said to Barnabas, “Now let us turn and visit the brothers again everywhere where we have announced the good news of the word of the lord where they have it. 37 And Barnabas planned to bring John who was called Mark along as well: 38 but Paul didn’t consider him worthy, since he left them at Pamphylia and didn’t accompany them in the work he wouldn’t come along this time. 39 And there was an argument so that they separated them from each other, and taking Mark Barnabas set sail for Cyprus, 40 and Paul, choosing Silas, went out passing on being entrusted with the grace of the lord by the brothers. 41 He went through Syria and [the] Cilicia strengthening the communities.

Acts of the Emissaries 16: 1-5: Timothy Accompanies Paul and Silas
1 And he arrived [also] at Derbe and at Lystra. And look, a certain disciple by the name of Timothy* was there, the son of a believing Jewish woman, but of a Greek father, 2 who was witnessed by the brothers in Lystra and Iconium. 3 Paul wanted to take this one with him, and taking him he circumcised him through the Jews who were in those places: for everyone knew that ‘He had a Greek father.’ 4 And as they traveled through the cities, they handed over to them the decrees decided by the emissaries and elders from Jerusalem to keep. 5 Therefore indeed the communities were strengthened by trust and increased in number every day.
*Means ‘fearer-‘ or ‘honorer-of-God’ in Greek.
