Rut 4: 6-7
6 And the kinsman-redeemer said, "I can't redeem it for myself lest I destroy my inheritance. You redeem it my right of redemption for yourself, for I can't redeem it."7 And this was (what happened) before them in Yisra'el concerning the right of redemption and concerning the exchange: to confirm each word the man took off his sandal and gave it to his neighbor and this was the exchange in Yisra'el.

10 And I also bought Rut the Moavi, wife of Machlon, as a wife for myself, to perpetuate the name of the dead man in his inheritance and I will not cut off the dead man's name from his brothers and the gate of his place. You are witnesses today." 11 And all the people that were at the gate and the elders said, "We are witnesses.
