According to Matthew 13: 53-58: The Rejection of Jesus at Nazareth
53 And it happened when Jesus finished these parables, he left that place. 54 And going into his hometown he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were amazed even (enough) to say, "From where (is) this wisdom and the miracles? 55 Is this not the carpenter's son? (Is) not his mother called Mary and his brothers James and Joseph and Simon and Judah? 56 And are not his sisters all with us? Therefore from whence (come) all these things?" 57 And they fell into sin by this. But Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not despised except in his hometown and in his house." 58 And he did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith*.
*Literally 'unfaith'.

According to Matthew 14: 1-12: The Death of John the Baptist
1 In that time the tetrarch Herod heard news of Jesus, 2 and he told his children, "This is John the Baptist: he has risen from the dead and through this miracles work in him."
3 For Herod had arrested John the Baptist (and) bound [him] and put (him) in prison because Herod (had taken) the wife of his brother Philip: 4 for John said to him, "It is not lawful for you to have her." 5 And though he wanted to kill him he feared the crowd, since (they thought) him to be a prophet. 6 But when celebrating Herod's birthday Herod's daughter danced in (their) midst and she pleased Herod, 7 and so with a vow he promised her whatever she would ask. 8 But being prompted by her mother (she said), "Give me, they declare*, the head of John the Baptist on a platter here. 9 And the king was sad because of the vow and the guests ordered it to be given, 10 and he sent (men) to behead John in the prison. 11 And he carried his head on a platter and gave (it) to the girl and she carried (it) to her mother. 12 And his disciples approaching took the corpse and buried it [him] and going sent to Jesus.
*Perhaps reminding him that the guests have witnessed his vow.

According to Matthew 14: 13-21: The Feeding of the Five Thousand
13 But hearing (this) Jesus went from that place in the boat to a deserted place(,) privately: and the crowd(,) having heard(,) followed him on foot by their multitudes. 14 And going out he saw a great crowd and he had pity on them and healed their sicknesses. 15 But when evening came the disciples approached him saying, "This is a deserted placce and the time is now passing by: send the crowds away so that they might go into the towns (and) buy victuals for themselves." 16 But [Jesus] said to them, "They do not need to leave, you give them to eat. 17 But they say to him, "We do not have (anything) here except five loaves and two fish." 18 But he said, "Bear them to me." 19 And ordering them to sit on the grass, he recieved the five loaves and two fish, (and) looking to heaven he blessed (them) and breaking (them) the disciples gave out the loaves, and the disciples to the crowds. 20 And all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up leftovers of the pieces (to) fill twelve baskets. 21 But those who ate were about five thousand men besides women and children.

According to Matthew 14: 22-33: Walking on the Water
22 And immediately he urged his disciples to get into the boat and to go before him to the other shore, until he might lose the crowds. 23 And having lost the crowds he set out alone on the road (and) prayed. But when evening came he was alone in that place. 24 But the boat had now been driven many stades distant from the land by the waves, for the wind was hostile. 25 But at the fourth watch of the night he came to them walking on the sea. 26 But the disciples seeing him walking on the sea were terrified saying, "It is a ghost," and they cried out from fear. 27 But immediatel [Jesus] spoke to them saying, "Take courage, it is I: do not fear." 28 But answering him Peter said, "Lord, if it is you, call me to come to you on the waters." 29 And he said, "Come." And descending from the boat Peter walked on the waters and came towards Jesus. 30 But seeing the strong wind he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out saying, "Lord, save me." 31 But immediately Jesus extending his hand grabbed him and he says to him, "Faintheart, why did you doubt?" 32 And lifting him into the boat the wind ceased. 33 But those in the boat worshiped him saying, "Surely you are God's son."

According to Matthew 15: 1-20: The Tradition of the Elders
1 Then Pharisees and scribes came to Jesus from Jerusalem saying, 2 "Why do your disciples disobey the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash [their] hands when they eat bread." 3 But answering he said to them, "Why do you also break God's commandments according to your tradition? 4 For God said, 'Honor your father and mother', and, 'He who curses father or mother(,) let him be put to death. 5 But you say, 'Whatever he said to father or mother, 'A gift that (is) help from me', 6 (but) will not honor his father* also disregards the word of God through your tradition. 7 Hypocrites, it was prophesied well by your Isaiah(,) who says,
8 This people honored me with (their) lips, but their heart is far away from me. 9 And they worship in vain teaching doctrines (and) commandments of men."
10 And calling the crowd he told them, "Listen and understand: 11 what enters the mouth does not defile the man, but rather what leaves the mouth defiles the man." 12 Then his disciples approaching say to him, "Do you know that the Pharisees who heard the word were shocked?" 13 But answering he said, "Each plant which my heavenly father did not plant will be uprooted. 14 Leave them: they are blind (men) leading [blind (men)]: but if a blind (man) leads a blind (man), both will fall into a ditch."
15 But answering Peter said to him, "Explain [this] parable to us." 16 But he said, "Are even you still senseless? 17 Do you not understand everything that enters goes into the mouth to the stomach and is expelled into the toilet? 18 But that which leaves the mouth comes from the heart, and also defiles a man. 19 For evil thoughts come from the heart, also murderous (thoughts), (thoughts ) of sexual immorality, of theft, of false witness, of blasphemy. 20 These are all defiling (to) a man, but to eat with unclean hands does not defile the man.
*Perhaps in not giving the gift.

According to Matthew 15: 21-28: The Canaanite Women's Faith 21 And leaving that place Jesus withdrew into part of Tyre and Sidon. 22 And behold a Canaanite woman coming from that area( she called out saying, "Have mercy on me, lord son of David: my daughter is severely demon-possessed." 23 But he did not answer her a word. And approaching his disciples asked him saying, "Send her away, because she is shouting behind us." 24 But answering he said, "I have not been sent except to the lost flock of Israel's house." 25 But coming she worshipped him saying, "Lord, help me." 26 But answering he said, "It is not good to take the bread of children and cast it to the dogs." 27 But she said, "Yes, lord, for even the dogs eat of the scraps falling from their master's table." 28 Then answering Jesus told her, "O woman, your faith (is) great: it will be to you as you wish." And her daughter was healed in that hour.

32 But Jesus approaching his disciples said, "I have pity on the crowds, because now they have stayed with me for three days and they to not have anything to eat: and I do not wish to send them away fasting, lest they faint in the road." 33 And the disciples say to him, "Where (can we find) so much bread in the wilderness that such a crowd might be fed?" 34 And Jesus says to them, "How much bread do you have?" And they said, "Seven loaves and a few fish." 35 And commanding the crowd to sit on the ground 36 he took the seven loaves and the fish and after giving thanks broke (it) and gave it to the disciples, and the disciples to the crowd. 37 And all ate and were satisfied. According to Matthew 16: 1-4: The Demand for a Sign
1 And approaching the Pharisees and Sadducees demanded him to show them a sign from heaven. 2 But answering he said to them, "[When it is evening you say, 'Fair weather, for the sky is red': 3 and in the morning the day (is) of winter, for the sky is dark (and) red. Indeed you know (how) to evaluate the face of the sky, but can you not (evaluate) the signs of the times?] 4 The evil generation(,) the adulteress(,) seeks a sign, and she will not be given a sign except the sign of Jonah." According to Matthew 16: 5-12: The Leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees
5 And going to the other side the disciples forgot to take bread. 6 But Jesus said to them, "Watch and guard against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees." 7 But they wondered among themselves saying, "We did not bring bread." 8 But knowing Jesus said, "Why do you wonder among yourselves, fainthearts, because you have no bread? 9 Do you not yet understand, nor remember the five loaves of the five thousands and how many baskets you took (away)? 10 Nor the seven loaves of the four thousand and how many large baskets you took? 11 How do you not understand that I did not speak to you about bread? But watch against the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees." 12 Then they understood that he said not to watch against the yeast of bread but against the teachings of the Pharisees and Sadducees.

According to Matthew 16: 13-20: Peter's Declaration about Jesus
13 But when Jesus went into the region of Philip's Caesaria he asked his disciples saying, "What do men call the son of man*?" 14 And they said, "Some John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others indeed Jeremiah or one of the prophets." 15 He says to them, "But what do you call me?" 16 And answering Simon Peter said, "You are the Christ, the son of the living God," 17 and answering he told him, "Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, because flesh and blood did not reveal (this) but rather my father in heaven. 18 And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church and the gates of hades will not overcome it. 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will have been loosed in heaven." 20 Then he commanded the disciples, that they might tell not one that he is the Christ.

According to Matthew 16: 21-28: Jesus Foretells His Death and Resurrection
21 From then Jesus began to explain to his disciples that it is necessary (for) him to go into Jerusalem and to suffer many things from the elders and high priests and scribes and to be killed and on the third day to rise. 22 And after taking him aside Peter began to scold him saying, "God forbid, lord: this will not be to you." 23 But turning he said to Peter, "Get behind me, Satan: you are a stumbling block to me, because you care not for the (things) of God but (for) those of men."
24 Then Jesus told his disciples, "If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and lift his cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wishes to save his soul will lose it: but whoever loses his soul for my sake will find it. 26 For what is the profit if any man gains the whole world but loses his soul? Or (if) any man gives a gift of his soul? 27 For the son of man intends to go in his father's glory with his angels, and then he will repay each according to his deeds. 28 Truly I tell you that any ones of those made to stand here are those who will not taste death until they see the son of man coming into his kingdom.

According to Matthew 17: 1-13: The Transfiguration of Jesus
1 And after six days Jesus taking along Peter and James and John his brother brings them onto a high mountain alone. 2 And he was transformed before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his garments were shining as light. 3 And behold they saw Moses and Elijah talking with him. 4 But answering Peter said to Jesus, "Lord, it is good for us to be here: if you will, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah." 5 While he was still speaking behold a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold a voice from the cloud saying, "This is my beloved son in whom I delight: listen to him." 6 And hearing the disciples fell on their faces and were very much afraid. 7 And Jesus approached and taking hold of them said, "Rise and fear not." 8 But lifting up their eyes they saw no one except Jesus alone.
9 And when they descended from the mountain Jesus commanded them saying, "Tell no one these sights until the son of man rises from the dead." 10 And the disciples asked him saying, "Therefore why do the scribes say that it is necessary (for) Elijah to come first." 11 And answering he said, "Indeed Elijah comes and will restore all: but I tell you that Elijah has now come, and they did not know him but rather they did in him as much as they wished: thus even the son of man is going to suffer by them." 13 Then the disciples understood that he had spoken to them about John the Baptist.

14 And coming towards the crowd a man approached him kneeling 15 and saying, "Lord, have mercy on my son, because he is epileptic* and suffers badly: for often he falls into the fire and often into water. 16 And I brought him to your disciples, and they were unable to heal him." 17 But answering Jesus said, "O unfaithful and depraved generation, until when will I be with you? Until when will I endure you? Carry him here to me." 18 And Jesus rebuked him and the demon came out of him and the child was healed from that hour. 19 Then the disciples approaching Jesus alone said, "Why were we unable to expel it?" 20 But he tells them, "Through your little faith: for truly I tell you, if you have faith like a seed of mustard, tell this mountain, 'Go down from here to there', and it will go: and nothing will be impossible for you."
